SAE Number: C1010
Stocking Status: In Stock
Density US: 0.284
Density Metric: 0.00787

Mild steel (iron containing a small percentage of carbon, strong and tough but not readily tempered), also known as plain-carbon steel and low-carbon steel, is now the most common form of steel because its price is relatively low while it provides material properties that are acceptable for many applications. For Stud Welding mild steel contains approximately 0.08–0.18% carbon making it malleable and ductile. Mild steel has a relatively low tensile strength, but it is inexpensive and easy to form; surface hardness can be increased through carburizing. Low carbon steel very weld suited for welding and makes an excellent choice for stud welding. It is suitable for a wide range of applications where speed, strength, ease and affordable installation are key considerations in the choice of fastening method.
